AI egress switch now takes effect within 60 seconds, with no restart

One platform setting decides whether kymeer may send any data to an external AI model. It is off by default, fails closed, and a change now applies within 60 seconds without a restart.

26 June 2026. kymeer's AI egress switch now applies live. A change to the setting takes effect within 60 seconds, with no restart of any service.

What it does

One platform setting decides whether kymeer may send any data to an external AI model. The redaction rules that mask values before a call leaves are read with it.

Previously, a change to the switch reached the AI features only when their services restarted. For a control that a team may need during an incident, that was too slow. The setting is now read live, with a short cache, so a change applies within 60 seconds.

Fail closed

External AI egress is off by default. The switch also fails closed. If there is no setting, if it cannot be read, or if its value is malformed, kymeer treats egress as off. An error never turns egress on.

Where it fits

The switch is the first of four steps on every AI request: the egress gate, redaction, a per-tenant token budget and an audit record. It is held by the platform administrator.

Who it is for

  • CISOs who need to show that security data reaches an outside model only when they have allowed it.
  • SOC leads who want to be able to cut AI egress quickly, without waiting for a maintenance window.
  • Regulated organisations that must be able to evidence how AI is governed.
